SIMONSWERK and architecture

Solutions for a range
of design tasks

“Making something invisible is also design!” It can present a certain incentive to design things so that their actual value isn’t apparent at first, giving other elements some space. Flushness is a design principle that radiates minimalism and involves precise technology and perfection. The completely concealed TECTUS hinge system makes it possible to integrate doors fully flush in linear room structures.

Architectural dimensions are defined by lines and surfaces. In architecture, entrances, exits and doorways have a role in setting the scene and are essential for the effect a building has. Overdimensioned doorways, for example in museums, concert halls and other public buildings, are imposing and require ever greater load-bearing capacities in hinge systems. SIMONSWERK provides optimal solutions for these applications with hinges to bear loads up to 400 kg.

Governmental and local regulations and technical requirements in smoke and fire protection, burglary prevention and soundproofing pose increasingly demanding requirements on the entire door system. SIMONSWERK heavy-duty hinges give you a range of solutions. For instance, they can be used reliably in emergency and escape exits.

This can be seen in the top-quality finishes in SIMONSWERK products. SIMONSWERK offers plated, painted and powder-coated finishes. Solid bronze or durable stainless steel hinges also create subtle accents in architectural contexts.

These differ in the details of load capacity, dimensions, design and equipment. SIMONSWERK can provide a suitable hinge solution for all building situations, a wide range of design requirements and any technical challenge.

Colours and finishes have a huge effect on how we perceive rooms. Colour palettes can be combined with different materials and finishes to create comfortable living spaces or an inspiring working environment.

And even the tiniest details such as hinge systems can make an enormous difference. However, colour has more than just artistic purpose – it can also be practical and functional: Both concealed hinge systems and knuckle hinges blend into their surroundings by matching the specific architectural context and contribute to the overall stylistic effect.

Finishes give materials their unique character. They’re fascinating in their own way and this can be seen in SIMONSWERK hinges.
