Hinge solutions for renovation work
The amount of renovations expected for doors gives an up-to-date indication of how old the doors are: 21 percent of all interior doors are older than 60 years and another 40 percent are between 40 and 60 years old. So that current requirements regarding fire protection and noise insulation as well as safety precautions to prevent fingers from being pinched, particularly in facilities for children and public buildings, are fulfilled, doors must be replaced on a frequent basis and mounting systems need to be technically upgraded.

Retrofitting = later use of heavy-duty doors with modern hinge technology on existing
The subsequent installation of a new door leaf on an old, existing steel frame frequently presents planners and manufacturers with new challenges. SIMONSWERK provides options to overcome such challenges with little effort. Pressing in a blind rivet nut with the corresponding hand riveter results in new hinge receivers in existing steel frames. In this way, it is possible to use state-of-the-art hinge technology as a retrofit hinge on new doors while also using old steel frames for high loads of up to 160 kg.

Solution option – VARIANT Compact
The VARIANT Compact hinge system is a special solution. Replacing the hinge receiver in the door means that existing frames can continue to be used, saving both time and money, and the door element can be fitted with modern hinge technology
