Glass doors

Maximum transparency

Is glass a crystal clear matter? Not necessarily. Glass can be used in a transparent form as a solid, versatile material but it is frequently used for architectural purposes as translucent frosted glass, particularly in doors. The material properties can be easily modified with different compositions. Glass can be recycled with no loss of quality. As a natural resource, it also has an outstanding material cycle.

Clear advantages for heavy-duty glass doors

In offices, museums and buildings intended for catering, glass doors are a popular aesthetic design choice. They create a sense of openness and space, which is why large door dimensions are frequently used. With the TECTUS Glass hardware system, heavy-duty doors can support loads up to 80 kg and simultaneously the high requirements of soundproofing. This also allows for room-in-room systems.

With the VARIANT VG hinge system, however, doors with glass thicknesses up to 10 mm can be used variedly on rebated and unrebated timber, steel and aluminium frames. The self-closing EVO, VERTO and BILOBA hinges are characterised by their versatility, security, functionality and durability. The integrated hydraulic damping makes sure the closing process is gentle and controlled, and thanks to an infinitely variable regulator on the hinge the closing speed can be adapted on a case-by-case basis to the weight and width of any door and the walking speed of the users.

Hinge systems for residential doors

Areas of application

Elegant design for residential doors

It is important to design rooms with plenty of light, especially in residential buildings. To this end, glass doors can allow a good amount of daylight to enter, even in innerlying rooms. The concealed TECTUS Glass hinge system allows glass doors to be installed flush, where the door, frame and hinge and latching system lie on the same level. This is line with the trend of designing subtle and linear rooms, while allowing for interesting visual connections.

The hydraulic EVO, VERTO and BILOBA hinges feature a self-closing function and can be used on inner and outer doors in homogeneous or subtle fashion or as an effective contrast. The doors can optionally be equipped with door push handles or a latch lock and strike box. The latch of the lock is retracted quietly and reliably into the striker plate, preventing damage to glass, hinges and locks as well as noise.
